For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved words: reading them, finding out where they come from, playing with what they do in combination. After obtaining my B.A. in English (of course!) from Virginia Wesleyan College, I worked in the local public schools as a high school English teacher.
It was a valuable experience, but after ten years I finally had to admit it: Teaching was a great fit for my organizational skills and work ethic, but it would never satisfy my thirst for WORDS.
I left the classroom to work in a marketing/advertising agency, my first job in which proofreading and editing were among my primary duties. I’d found my calling as an editor! In addition, agency work gave me the opportunity to witness small business operation from the inside. This exposure proved useful after the birth of my first child, when I left the agency to work from home under my own business, Admin Maven.
I founded Admin Maven as a general virtual administrative services company, but in fact in its first four years, not a single client had ordered typical administrative assistance. What they really needed was a dedicated wordsmith. So in 2010, I re-branded the company to reflect my writing/editing focus. Sunny Words Writing Services is the result.
Sunny Words is the ideal business for me. My work lets me indulge in English; I collaborate with select clients on projects I enjoy; and best of all, I have a freelancer’s freedom to do it during the hours that work best for my family. With this flexibility, neither my family nor work lacks the attention it deserves.
I look forward to hearing how Sunny Words can help you, too. Contact me today!
